Trojan TrojanDropper:Win32/SpamThru.gen!A (version 3.4)

Beitrag von mlher »

Each time I install the version 3.4 Build 2055 Direct AV on my "Windows 7" PC, my antivirus detects a Trojan called TrojanDropper:Win32/SpamThru.gen!A . According to Microsoft "This threat is classified as a Trojan - Dropper. As its name suggests, a dropper trojan contains malicious or potentially unwanted software which it ‘drops’ and installs on the affected system. Commonly, the dropper installs a backdoor which allows remote, surreptitious access to infected systems. This backdoor may then be used by remote attackers to upload and install further malicious or potentially unwanted software on the system. This threat is detected by the Microsoft antivirus engine. Technical details are not currently available."
It could be related to a "Blue screen" I got from time to time.
Any help will be welcome
Thanks

At first, I would strongly suggest not to use a version 3.x of m.objects (released approx. 2005) under Windows 7 (released in late 2009). There are several issues of incompatibility, as we of course could not adapt m.objects in 2005 to requirements of an operating system that will be available much later.
Nevertheless, the reason for the alert of your antivirus software might be one of the following:
- corruption of your old installation file by a virus
- corruption of files already istalled on your system by a virus
- false report of your antivirus software

I recommend to let your antivirus software eliminate all potential viruses (according to the documentation and disclaimers of this software), and to install the recent version 5.2 on our Win7 machine then.
Depending of the version of m.objects you are using, most likely an update to 5.2 will not be free of charge. Please look at our homepage or mail us directly to get a quote.

Also, I advise against running playback of m.objects shows on a machine that shows bluescreens every now and then, since obviously the stability needed for this is not given.
