Has anyone tried to make an exe file with the compression for the mp3 set to 256 and see if you get sound when you run the file on another PC, not just on the PC you created the exe file on?

I want to establish if the problem is with just me, or do others have the same problem as I think there may be a problem with the mp3 compression when set at 256.

Thank you,

Mike

Hello Mike

Now I have tried to make an exe.-file with 256kBit and I'm surprised. I've got absolutely the same problems like you. I created the file with my Vista-Notebook and played the Exe on my XP-PC. Now I also have to press the Enter-Key to get the sound.
That's really interesting. Thank you for your detective-work.

Hello,

A little bit late but surely it is a problem with the audio compression. Some audio cards do no accept high bitrates. Also, in order to minimize the show in volume MB, 190 kbps-cbr is really fine and most of the audio cards have no problem with this compression rate or lower (minimum 128 kbps-cbr).
Something else : the wma codec generates in the same bitrate a much better sound than the mp3 codec (about 20 year old technique ... ).

Patrick,

Yes I agree that it the problem must lie with the mp3 audio compression, but it is not the problem of the decoding on the computers concerned as they will play a 256kbps audio file on their own, it is just the audio as played with m.objects.

I hope the m.objects team are going to look into this? In the mean time I am using the next highest setting of 224 or 192.

Regards,

Mike
